Alma Oasis was created in 2023, brought to life from the shared vision of two individuals captivated by the beauty and mystery of daily life but also by the climate problems and unmet solutions in our society. Our vision is to inspire the environmentally curious and encourage change in individual behaviors to have a positive impact on the earth, however large or small.
‘Alma’ means the soul, reflecting the essence of our being and ‘Oasis’ signifies a flourishing ecosystem in an otherwise arid world. Together, Alma Oasis represents the harmonious coexistence of the human spirit and nature, a place where individuals learn to thrive on a constantly evolving planet.
I took the SylvoTherapy program to learn to share what I naturally experience in the forest with individuals who have not been exposed to nature settings. This course gave me words to express my way of being that is easily understood.
I enjoyed the class. Some of the modules were overwhelming. I would have preferred an in person experience, however: this was a great introduction class.
This course offers an excellent balance between practical knowledge and critical reflection on the deeper social and environmental issues tied to modern construction. I appreciate how each module not only presents natural building methods in a simple, understandable way but also connects them to larger questions of sustainability, resource use, and personal autonomy. What I found particularly valuable is that the course goes beyond techniques, it challenges the dominant economic mindset of debt and consumption, and invites us to rethink what it means to create a home. The inclusion of indigenous knowledge, historical context, and real-life case studies makes the learning experience both inspiring and grounded in reality. For anyone looking to explore natural building not just as a skill, but as a lifestyle choice rooted in environmental respect and community, I highly recommend this course.
