Grief Coach Certification

This module lays the groundwork for your grief support journey. You’ll explore how grief is understood and honored across time, culture, and belief systems. From ancestral mourning practices to the evolution of Western clinical models, you'll deepen your understanding of the sociocultural roots of grief. We’ll also define grief-related terminology—including mourning, bereavement, anticipatory grief, and disenfranchised grief—and explore ethical guidelines for your role as a grief practitioner. This foundational module sets the tone for an integrative, inclusive, and ethically grounded approach to grief support.

Grief is not linear—and neither are your clients. This module explores the wave-like, cyclical nature of grief and how it intersects with shifting identity. You’ll be introduced to grief archetypes like The Protector, The Seeker, and The Dissociator—patterns that reflect how individuals cope, avoid, or spiritualize their grief. You’ll learn to recognize emotional defense mechanisms and gently guide clients toward authentic expression. We’ll also explore concepts like soul contracts and life scripts, allowing you to work with grief as a transformational threshold in your clients’ spiritual development.

Here, we explore how grief moves through the emotional and somatic body. You’ll learn to hold space for core emotions like sadness, anger, fear, and guilt—and how these may be expressed differently across cultures and personalities. This module emphasizes non-verbal communication, symbolic language, and intuitive tools for emotional release. You’ll gain techniques for helping clients safely express grief through journaling, creative arts, dreamwork, metaphor, movement, and ritual. This is where your emotional intelligence and intuitive presence are strengthened.

Grief lives in the nervous system, the tissues, the breath. In this module, you’ll study the physical impact of grief, including fatigue, immune suppression, sleep disruption, and chronic tension. You’ll learn to support clients in restoring energetic balance through integrative methods like grounding exercises, herbal support, breathwork, and restorative movement. Practices from somatic therapy and subtle energy work will help you identify where grief is held in the body and support clients in gently shifting it. You’ll also explore the healing power of nature, rhythm, and nourishment for long-term integration.

Grief often awakens spiritual questions—and this module teaches you how to meet them with curiosity, neutrality, and reverence. You’ll explore diverse cultural and spiritual beliefs about death, the soul, and the afterlife—including reincarnation, ancestral reunion, and energy transition. You’ll learn how to support clients who sense signs or visitations, as well as those grappling with spiritual disconnection or existential crisis. Most importantly, you’ll gain tools for integrating ritual and sacred conversation into sessions while maintaining clear ethical and energetic boundaries.

Not all grief is about death—and not all grief is recognized. This module focuses on losses that are often disenfranchised or ignored: miscarriage, divorce, chronic illness, infertility, incarceration, and identity loss, among others. You’ll learn how to validate and support clients through grief that lacks ritual, community, or permission. You’ll also explore collective and ancestral grief, including how systemic oppression and cultural trauma contribute to intergenerational wounding. Through narrative, ritual, and somatic support, you'll help clients name what’s been hidden and reclaim voice in their grief story.

This is where theory meets practice. You’ll learn how to structure safe, effective grief support sessions using narrative coaching, somatic inquiry, and trauma-informed tools. From your first intake to your final session, you’ll know how to pace, guide, and adapt to the emotional landscape of each client. You’ll study grief assessment tools, use creative intake templates, and design client-centered care plans. This module also includes guidance on group facilitation and grief circles. You'll walk away with practical frameworks for both individual and collective healing spaces.

Your presence is your greatest tool. In this reflective module, you’ll explore your personal relationship with grief and how it shapes your practice. Through shadow work, grief journaling, and inner inquiry, you’ll identify potential blind spots and areas of transference. You’ll also build a sustainable self-care strategy that includes seasonal rest rhythms, energetic boundaries, and supervision structures. This module is essential for long-term practitioner well-being and soul-aligned service.

Here, you’ll shift from practitioner to entrepreneur. This module guides you step-by-step through launching or expanding your grief support business. You’ll learn how to identify your ideal clients, articulate your niche, and design ethical, resonant offerings. We’ll cover the logistics of pricing, scheduling, legal structure, and client documentation, as well as how to market with sensitivity and soul. Whether you’re building private sessions, retreats, or group programs, this module equips you to do it with clarity, integrity, and purpose.

This closing module invites you to bring everything together—knowledge, intuition, presence, and purpose. You’ll synthesize your learning through peer case presentations, personal reflection, and creative mapping. You’ll complete your final certification requirements and participate in a closing ritual designed to honor your transformation. With a clear post-graduation plan in hand, you’ll step forward not just as a student, but as a certified grief support practitioner—ready to serve your community with courage, humility, and heart.
