Pleased with the content

I have extensive knowledge of wilderness survival in my own area, however, learning about the Arctic and Jungle people gave me the interest to pursue learning more about the different climates and areas unknown to me. Honestly, the first module I found uninteresting and struggled to pay attention to it as it seemed frivolous and did not encourage me to continue. I powered through, though, and was much relieved to find more tangible content from there on out. on the whole it was very informative and I loved doing the practical assignments. I have never made char cloth or used a bowdrill or friction method before!

This does not qualify you to be an instructor

If anyone tries to teach others with this information it would be irresponsible. This course gives very basic skills and suggestions to develop BASIC survival skills. Any notion this course prepares you to teach other is completely misleading. The only reason it was not given 1 star is because it does have great basic information for general enthusiasts and active hikers.

Broad and specific

This course offeres extremely broad advice and then at times offers very specific, geographic and ecosystem related tips. IT feels at times like they were just trying to fill the gaps. There is good information available but i would not recommend this course.

Good Content but..

I just find this sort of thing would be best in an actual hands on setting. Of course i have to go out and try these things but still find it hard to grasp some of the pictures being painted. That being siad this course is giving a good foundation to move forward and develop my skills.

Great Refresher!!!

I learned all this and more from my grandfather as a kid. We put it into action many times. This has been a great way to connect with that knowledge to be more prepared to pass it on. Thanks!

I'm really impressed with the Wilderness Survival Instructor course! I love how it is written in a creative and descriptive way that keeps me engaged. I am learning more from this course that from all the survival books I have purchased over the years. Sharing the indigenous practices, beliefs and rituals associated with each unit helps me to better appreciate where these skills and techniques have come from and why they are still prevalent today. I have completed the first 3 modules and am looking forward to continuing to learn more. I have also watched some of the teacher-led videos and love how the topics incorporate information from various courses. Thank you for helping me to reconnect with the land from my urban surroundings in snowy Canada.
