Wilderness Survival Instructor Course

The course was great and in detail, however I am from Africa and not much was talked about African Animals and plants to eat or use for medications in the wild.

Good course but should be more practical

As I said before, more illustrations are needed. Drawings of shelters, fires, methods of collecting water, cooking methods etc

Wilderness Survival Instructors Course

IT was a great experience and it helps me a lot to validate and recall my past knowledge pertaining to the subject. It is good to complete this and become a certified instructor since currently I am handling basic survival skills. Excellent!

over all experience:

well detailed. was pleased to see the connections made to the indigenous people and explaining thy survived thousands of years in that specific environment. learned a few new terms like channeling with snares. I just few it as guiding them to the snare. As someone who lived in the north I knew that our local food had the necessary nutrients. Never really thought about the dessert people who also lived in that environment. a few issues as I mentioned earlier about the first aid. Question 7. on the final test talks about the fire board and spinal. finding the correct material was wrong my issue is if you don't pick the correct material the likelihood of success is almost zero. Question 27. You claim washing the wound nd is required to stop the bleed. you clean the wound after the bleeding has stopped 20 minutes or so. Prior direct pressure is the number one recognized method for bleeding control. Elevation helps with controlling the bleed. first aid is the weakest part of the course. everything else was well done. being able to change answers allowed me the user to correct my mistake with the correct information.

first aid section.

the first aid was confusing. a lot of old information not used anymore either in standard first aid or wilderness. example staring rescue breathes, gone now if patient is not breathing straight to CPR. Snake bites no longer heavy compression, remain calm, lower bite site below heart. Treating hypothermia you recommend getting into a sleeping bag together that causes the rescuer to develop hypothermia. sleeping together to help prevent is is much smarter. you confuse wilderness and standard first aid treatment is different in urban areas and the back countryy in section was poor. So on this section I'll rate it 3.5 on 10

wilderness instructor course 6th module

the information was factual easy to remember. placement of photos a little confusing. When talking about morel, mushrooms the photo next to it was chicken of the woods. In the writing it said a photo below was a morel, did not see such photo. glad it was talked about changing ones attitudes about food before one gets desperate.

I found this course to be very educational and informative on the subject matter. Would recommend to anyone wanting to expand their knowledge on the subject of wilderness survival.

wilderness instructor course

Surprised it is well organized. going outside conventional skills only based. Awareness of surroundings your connection to the environment, I have talked about the psychological aspect, the course describes it more as spiritual. In short it encompasses many components to a better understanding.
