Glad I took a chance
I have a lot of experience with helping manage ADHD symptoms, teaching self-regulation and coping skills. I am still finding these modules to be well written, and informative.

Finding my Purpose
I’ve taken many classes focused on helping people make meaning of their lives, and it feels like all of them have been leading me to this work. Moving through this course has only deepened that sense of alignment and made me even more excited to become a grief practitioner.

Much more needs to be added
I signed on to this class hoping to get concrete neuroscience that would support the work in my classroom. With a foundation in neuroscience, I do not feel the support offered will in fact increase a student's ability to achieve. There are so many ways to use neuroscience to empower students, but none were provided. I would be happy to share how I implemented neuroscience into my third grade program to help students manage stress, discover how they learned best and what they could do to improve retention of information. I used neuroscience to help parents understand why their children would come and say "The teacher didn't teach this." When, in fact, the teacher had taught it. Then I used the information to show them how to support their students learning. When they understood how memory is formed and the role they played in create a lack of motivation to listen in class, they changed how they responded to their children. This is missing from your program. The examples you gave for games, would not support all students. Having taught for 55 years, and having used neuroscience to create engagement in the classroom, I found this program is deficient and would not provide enough practical application. I also do not feel that being a multi-tasker makes one less able to learn, it just requires one understand how to manage it. I would recommend adding strategies that are time tested and proven successful, not just theory. I would be leary of hiring anyone who uses this certificate to support classroom teachers. They will lose their credibility the minute the exercises offered were presented to seasoned teachers. I will use the certificate because as stated in your program, people need scientific proof, but I will not be using your ideas. They will fall flat. I would be happy to help you form a program in which you incorporate neuroscience information that is easily understood by students that helps them understand how brains work and support them as they learn how to maximize their brain power. I happen to know I remember more of what I see and less of what I hear, so books on tape will not support my learning style, but my daughter remembers everything she hears and little of what see sees, so books on tape work for her. Recognizing that we need to work with what our strengths are will remove frustration in learning and support how one asks for support. In a Spanish class, I failed in a class using an auditory type of teaching, so I had to ask for visual support. Had I not known that I was not auditory, I would have felt like a failure. Asking for the support one needs, teaches the teacher what they didn't know. I have so much more to share, if you are interested, please contact me at www.homeworkdoc.com. [email protected]
