Step 5: Micro-step the task to find the real bottleneck
When a task looks “simple” from the outside but repeatedly jams in practice, break it down. Micro-stepping shows you whether the friction is coming from sensory input, movement organization, sequence, timing, or social pressure.
Support that breaks tasks into smaller steps can lower both thinking load and movement load, which often makes follow-through feel more reachable.
A useful coaching frame is to sort what’s happening into four buckets:
- Input: What is the person taking in through sound, light, texture, temperature, or movement?
