Alma Oasis was created in 2023, brought to life from the shared vision of two individuals captivated by the beauty and mystery of daily life but also by the climate problems and unmet solutions in our society. Our vision is to inspire the environmentally curious and encourage change in individual behaviors to have a positive impact on the earth, however large or small.
‘Alma’ means the soul, reflecting the essence of our being and ‘Oasis’ signifies a flourishing ecosystem in an otherwise arid world. Together, Alma Oasis represents the harmonious coexistence of the human spirit and nature, a place where individuals learn to thrive on a constantly evolving planet.
A Thoughtful and Inspiring Course That Deepens Your Connection With the Ocean
This course offers a genuinely engaging and reflective approach to understanding the therapeutic relationship between humans and the ocean. The material is thoughtfully structured and blends psychology, neuroscience, ecology, and creative practice in a way that encourages both personal insight and practical application.
What stood out most was the emphasis on experiential learning, not just theory, but ways of engaging with the ocean environment that promote reflection, emotional awareness, and connection with nature. The modules are well paced and invite you to think deeply about how natural environments can support well-being.
I particularly appreciated how the course integrates ideas from attachment theory, ecopsychology, and sensory awareness while keeping the learning accessible and grounded. It’s a rewarding experience for anyone interested in nature-based wellbeing, personal development, or exploring new ways of engaging with the ocean environment.
Overall, a fascinating and enriching course that leaves you looking at the ocean, and your relationship with it, in a completely new way.
While I found the course to be informative, the computer-generated voice became very monotonous, and it had extreme difficulty with the pronunciation of many of the Latin plant names. Maybe including some vids of people would increase the connectivity with the group.
I am enjoying this course. The information is thorough and shows the complexities when using herbs in multiple ways. I feel like I am engaging in a course that will cover all the bases to ensure safe and best use for the herbs studied here.
This course is more scientific and trauma informed than I first thought it would be. I'm really getting a lot out of the coourse material. I like the idea of being a prscticioner and that the ocean itself is the mediator. Also, the suggested exercises are very helpful and I'm starting to practice some of them for myself.
