Alma Oasis was created in 2023, brought to life from the shared vision of two individuals captivated by the beauty and mystery of daily life but also by the climate problems and unmet solutions in our society. Our vision is to inspire the environmentally curious and encourage change in individual behaviors to have a positive impact on the earth, however large or small.
‘Alma’ means the soul, reflecting the essence of our being and ‘Oasis’ signifies a flourishing ecosystem in an otherwise arid world. Together, Alma Oasis represents the harmonious coexistence of the human spirit and nature, a place where individuals learn to thrive on a constantly evolving planet.
The Sylvotherapy course was OK, but could use a number of improvements to make it better. There was a lot of detail on certain tree and plant species, but they covered species from throughout the world. Since I live in a temperate zone in North America, many of these species do not grow here and are not relevant to my area. The chapters, like chapter 7, was almost entirely about different tree species and had little other content. The course was weak on how to actually run a sylvotherapy session. Chapter 4 had some information on this, but it seemed to be lacking. If there was certain instructional videos rather then the text and audio, the content would be much better explained. Some of the exercises were not clear the way they were presented.
Sorry, but this course was a disappointing.
Though this course covers the material well, I haven't found Facebook a very effective way to advertise. As it was free, it was worth doing, but I wouldn't have paid for it.
I would’ve thought by now there would be a much more glamorous way to present material. Rather than videos, you basically get an e-book with an audio track and there’s no way to keep them in sync. Every time you have to stop the audio, you lose your place in the e-book. There’s also no way to hot-key through the material or skip to pages - for instance, to find the place where you stopped last time. So every time you start a session, you have to find where you were in the ebook, restart the audiotape and play it back to the place where you left off. This is absolutely moronic in the year 2026. (Also, the person who voiced the recordings mispronounces words at an alarming rate, including scientific terms that are quite germane to the course.) Had I realized that the material was not presented as videos, I would not have signed up for this class. The e-books are terribly thorough, however, and have great information. It’s a shame that they can’t figure out a modern way to present it.
Does the idea of a tree being a sentient being resonate deeply with you? Have you heard of egregores? Do you believe in Gaia, the Earth Mother? If you answered yes, then this course may be of interest to you. So far, I have completed the first two modules and have noticed a lack of citations for the studies referred to in the reading, as well as a bias towards mysticism and pseudoscience. I paid $97 for this course, and so far, I am disappointed. I hoped for a framework for sylvanotherapy or suggested techniques. Fair warning, the first two modules will most likely shock you (or possibly amuse you) if you are more of a rationalist and a proponent of the scientific method.
slow to much info to retain in this written format
The start of the course was interesting and now the last few modules are just listing just to many plants and properties that its impossible to retain info - good as a reference guide to look plants up but not fun or interesting when learning
